The Seymour Library, in conjunction with LaBella Associates, will open bids publicly for the toilet room renovations on Friday, April 12th at 3:00 pm. This will be an open and public event consisting of only opening and reading the bids. The Seymour Facilities Committee and Board of Trustees will review the bids after the public opening for award, if any.
The Seymour will close on Thursday, July 4th in observation of the Fourth of July holiday. The library will also close at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, July 3rd. The library will reopen during regular hours beginning on Friday, July 5th at 10:00 am. Enjoy a safe holiday!
The Seymour Library Foundation has OFFICIALLY opened reservations for the 2024 Garden Tour on July 20th. Details to follow. The Foundation wants to start showcasing some of the amazing gardens we have in our community.

The Seymour Library will close on Monday, May 27th in observation of Memorial Day. The library will reopen on Tuesday, May 28th at 10:00 am.
Construction has started! A big thank you to the Town of Clarkson Highway Department for getting us going before summer reading. The plumbing in the Seymour Library needs new lines to connect our outflow more efficiently. This gets us started. The library will NOT close during this time. The Town of Clarkson has worked around the library and its patrons to make sure everyone can still access the library. Please be mindful of traffic patterns and pedestrians during when entering/leaving the parking lot. We’re hoping this stage gets finished up sometime before May 18th. Our community leaders have prioritized the functionality of the building to keep Seymour great. Let us know if you have any questions!
Throughout the Monroe County Library System, including at the Seymour Library, automatic renewals will begin on May 1, 2024. Automatic renewal means that if you have a book or item that the system can renew, you will receive an e-mail 4 days before the due date notifying you of the renewal.
E-mails on file will automatically get opted in. To opt-out, please visit your local library. Patrons will also get a courtesy e-mail notifying them which items the system could not renew, along with their due date.
Items that Seymour CANNOT renew:
- NEW Items or Non-renewable items
- Items on hold for another patron
- Items that have reached their renewal limits
- Items on accounts in delinquency

The Friends of the Seymour Library will host their semi-annual book sale, beginning on Wednesday, April 17th at 6:00 pm. The sale will continue through Saturday, April 20th at the library. The Friends can accept cash, check, or credit. Please contact the library for further details.
The Seymour Library will remain open for the total solar eclipse on April 8th. The library will open for reserved parking at 9:00 am. Reserve your space here: https://calendar.libraryweb.org/event/12113894.
Programs for education and entertainment will run through the day, beginning at 11:00 am and finishing at 6:00 pm. The library will close at regular hours at 8:00 pm. The Kiwanis Club of Brockport will be on site to provide food and the library will have outdoor restrooms, in addition to all indoor facilities being open. We will have a limited supply of eclipse glasses on hand for the day of the eclipse on a first come basis. Circulation and reference services will close at 1:00 pm and resume around 4:00 pm, as conditions allow.
In the absence of an emergency, or barring any recommendations from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, all activities will continue as scheduled, per our digital calendar. The Seymour Library will publicize any changes. Please refrain from parking on the library lawn and follow all signage. Please stay mindful of the traffic patterns and flow, as we expect a heavy influx of visitors. As always, we ask for your patience and kindness to the staff and one another. The Seymour Library will host monthly board meetings on the third Wednesday of every month. Per NYS Open Meeting Laws, members of the public may attend these meetings. The dates for 2024 are as follow: January 17, February 21, March 20, April 17, May 15, June 19, July 17, August 21, September 18, October 16, November 20, and December 18. Any changes to these meeting dates will appear on this website and on the Seymour Library’s social media.
The Seymour Library will host a meeting for the municipal board of Sweden, Clarkson, Brockport, and the Seymour Board of Trustees on Tuesday, March 26th at 7:00 pm in the Duryea Room. The meeting will review the annual performance of the library, as reported in the Annual Report to the New York State Library. All members of the public may also attend this meeting.
