Labor Day Closure

The Seymour Library will close in observance of Labor Day on Monday, September 2nd. The library will reopen for regular hours on Tuesday, September 3rd. The library’s parking lot will also begin milling that morning, so please remain mindful of heavy equipment. Enjoy the holiday!

Seymour Paving

We had a record breaking summer and loved seeing everyone during our summer reading programs! School starts September 3rd and so does the next phase of Seymour construction. Please follow for scheduling in real time, but we have some anticipated work. The library will remain open at regular hours for most of the improvement schedule.

The Seymour parking lot will get milled and paved on September 3rd through September 11th, led by the Town of Sweden Highway Department. Please follow all signs and directions to arrive at the appropriate parking spaces. We want all patrons and community members to use the library, but stay as safe as possible.

The library has an anticipated closure day on Tuesday, September 10th. This will depend on the weather for paving, but please plan alternative dates to come see us. Paving will end phase one of Fall/Winter construction. More details to follow.

Thanks to our community, patrons, and municipalities. We’re in this together to build a great Seymour Library.

Library Parking Lot Milling and Paving

The Town of Sweden Highway Department will lead a milling and paving project in the Seymour Library lot, beginning September 3rd, 2024. The milling and preparation should not disrupt ability to use the library. However, the library will close for one day in early September to accommodate laying asphalt. More details to follow.

Seymour Construction

Construction has started! A big thank you to the Town of Clarkson Highway Department for getting us going before summer reading. The plumbing in the Seymour Library needs new lines to connect our outflow more efficiently. This gets us started. The library will NOT close during this time. The Town of Clarkson has worked around the library and its patrons to make sure everyone can still access the library. Please be mindful of traffic patterns and pedestrians during when entering/leaving the parking lot. We’re hoping this stage gets finished up sometime before May 18th. Our community leaders have prioritized the functionality of the building to keep Seymour great. Let us know if you have any questions!

Automatic Renewal Starts May 1st!

Throughout the Monroe County Library System, including at the Seymour Library, automatic renewals will begin on May 1, 2024. Automatic renewal means that if you have a book or item that the system can renew, you will receive an e-mail 4 days before the due date notifying you of the renewal.

E-mails on file will automatically get opted in. To opt-out, please visit your local library. Patrons will also get a courtesy e-mail notifying them which items the system could not renew, along with their due date.

Items that Seymour CANNOT renew:

  • NEW Items or Non-renewable items
  • Items on hold for another patron
  • Items that have reached their renewal limits
  • Items on accounts in delinquency

We look forward to making the borrowing process easier for our patrons!
