The Seymour Library will open at 1:00 pm, rather than 10:00 am, on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025. The library will close at 8:00 pm. The library will have a new server installed to maintain its technology infrastructure, and staff will receive training. Please note: the library’s PCs will have very limited access, if any, all day. Patrons will likely not have the ability to log in to the library’s computers until the server replacement completes. More information to follow. The Seymour Library Foundation has brought back an annual favorite. After Hours at the Seymour Library will take place on Saturday, October 4th from 7:00 pm to 10:00(ish) pm. While After Hours brings together adults, check out the library’s Star Party program on the Seymour lawn. The library, in cooperation with the Rochester Museum and Science Center and Monroe County Library System, will bring telescopes, binoculars, and star charts to observe the night sky. The library will also offer a nature program, astrology charts, and a history of the constellations in mythology. The program will run 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm for all ages.

The Seymour Library will host the Town of Sweden, Town of Clarkson, and Village of Brockport local government boards in its annual meeting on Tuesday, August 26th at 7:00 pm. The meeting will take place in the Duryea Room of the library. An agenda will be made public no later than five-days prior to the meeting. This will follow the general library board meeting on Wednesday, August 20th at 6:30 pm. All meetings are subject to NYS Open Meeting Law, and the library welcomes all members of the public as the Library Director and Board of Trustees present the results of 2024, a proposed budget for 2026, and the adoption of a new Long-Range Plan (2026-2028). The registrations have opened for the Seymour Library Foundation’s 3rd Annual Garden Tour. Each registration will cost $25.00. The tour will begin at the Seymour Library at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 19th. A Gathering of Gardeners will take place between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm, in which registrants will have an opportunity to chat with some Master Gardeners. The Friends of the Seymour Library hosted another very successful book sale in late April. The Friends raised over $2,800, which will fund library programs benefitting the Seymour Library and the Summer Reading Program. Thank you all who came, browsed, purchased, and re-homed some fantastic books. A huge thanks to everyone who donated their gently used books for this purpose. The Friends will host its second book sale of the year in October. Please stay tuned for more details!
The Seymour Library will close in observation of Memorial Day on Monday, May 26th. The library will reopen to the public on Tuesday, May 27th at 10:00 am. We hope everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing holiday!

2024 Library Report
The Seymour Library will close to the public on Monday, April 28th for a staff development day. The library will also undergo new flooring installation in the Duryea Room. To minimize disruptions, the library will open to the public at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 29th. We look forward to seeing you then!
