Book Sale by Friends of the Seymour Library

The Friends of the Seymour Library semi-annual book sale will begin at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 16th, 2024 and continue to Saturday, October 19th. The Friends will continue to offer the bag sale on the last day, so come early or late to find something for you. The Friends mission continues to support the Seymour Library in numerous endeavors, including the summer reading program, the bookmark celebration, and year-round programming. Please support our Friends!

As a reminder, the restrooms will remain under construction during the sale. The restroom trailers will remain outside and operational. The library has a limited use restroom for ADA compliance and child changing. Please see a librarian for details.

Seymour Library Restroom Renovation

The Seymour Library will undertake a renovation of the public and staff restrooms beginning on Monday, September 16, 2024. The project will address the ongoing plumbing issues to reroute wastewater through laterals in the under slab of the building. The contractors will then remove and install new fixtures, tiling, HVAC, and stalls. The funding for the project comes from a series of grant funds, the Town of Sweden, the Town of Clarkson, and the Village of Brockport, in addition to Seymour capital funds. The project will take several months, with an end date of November 16, 2024 (hopefully).

During this time, the library will not close. The contractor will deliver a portable restroom trailer to the site, in front of the main entrance. The library has emergency protocols in place. Please see a librarian or the Library Director for details. Please remain mindful during this time between the hours of 10:00 am and 4:00 pm for construction workers, materials, and equipment. The Seymour Library Board of Trustees has worked diligently with the Library Director and the contractor to minimize disruptions to patrons and community members. We anticipate having alternative programming, both on and off site, so please continue to follow us for more information. We appreciate everyone’s continued usage of the library as we make a more comfortable and welcoming space for everyone. We look forward to seeing the finished product! Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions.

Labor Day Closure

The Seymour Library will close in observance of Labor Day on Monday, September 2nd. The library will reopen for regular hours on Tuesday, September 3rd. The library’s parking lot will also begin milling that morning, so please remain mindful of heavy equipment. Enjoy the holiday!

Seymour Paving

We had a record breaking summer and loved seeing everyone during our summer reading programs! School starts September 3rd and so does the next phase of Seymour construction. Please follow for scheduling in real time, but we have some anticipated work. The library will remain open at regular hours for most of the improvement schedule.

The Seymour parking lot will get milled and paved on September 3rd through September 11th, led by the Town of Sweden Highway Department. Please follow all signs and directions to arrive at the appropriate parking spaces. We want all patrons and community members to use the library, but stay as safe as possible.

The library has an anticipated closure day on Tuesday, September 10th. This will depend on the weather for paving, but please plan alternative dates to come see us. Paving will end phase one of Fall/Winter construction. More details to follow.

Thanks to our community, patrons, and municipalities. We’re in this together to build a great Seymour Library.

Library Parking Lot Milling and Paving

The Town of Sweden Highway Department will lead a milling and paving project in the Seymour Library lot, beginning September 3rd, 2024. The milling and preparation should not disrupt ability to use the library. However, the library will close for one day in early September to accommodate laying asphalt. More details to follow.
